ScanDisk freezes my computer every time I start it and I have to reboot using the power button. I have recently installed a new version of Dr Solomon's AntiVirus software, which affected a lot of programs on the PC, but I thought this problem had been sorted out. Do you think Dr Solomon's has affected ScanDisk, or is there another reason for this problem?
It isn't a good idea to run low-level disk maintenance tools while antivirus monitors and other background utilities are running. Either shut them down temporarily from the System Tray, stop them loading at startup by keeping the Shift key pressed down while Windows starts, or start Windows in Safe Mode to run ScanDisk. If this fails, exit Windows to MS-DOS and type 'ScanDisk' at the command prompt.
